Over a year ago, I directed the pilot episode I wrote to a show that I hope to see on my TV one day. “28” is for people who are on missions to find home and safe spaces.
I started writing “28” on a beach by my parents house on 4/20/2021. My brain was moving faster than my thumbs could type into the notes app. What started as me saying, “what if,” turned into a script within hours. I printed out 30 pages that day and promptly placed it into my desk drawer.
About a year later, I let my collaborator and bestie Friday Anderson read it. Not without them forcing me to do so. I was shocked to hear that they loved it. We worked on the story some more, had a reading in our apartment, and more people liked it. And then all of the sudden, we’re raising $15K to produce it.

In every one of DJ’s (the lead) closest relationships, housing and rent are of primary issues - a common conversation and complaint of any New York City resident. As professionals in ‘unconventional’ fields, viewers will get a glimpse at the not-so-glamorous lives of older Gen-Z minorities in this romanticized city.
Right now, we’re seeking funding or assistance on editing since all the funds we raised went into filming. We’re looking to edit the pilot into a five episode web-series.
HUGE shout out to Salimata Isabel Diakite (the lead of 28), Luke Volkert, Caleb Martin-Rosenthal for producing and writing the song in the trailer, “It Won’t Count.”
Excited to get this out to you all <3
